Objective To administer the veterans' memorial building for which the commission is named; be responsible for the security of the building and the careful and prudent use thereof; determine what associations or organizations are entitled and qualified under the law to occupy meeting rooms and other space in the building; and prohibit the use of the building, equipment or grounds by persons, associations, organizations or enterprises not authorized by law.

Term (Seats) Each member shall hold office for a term of 3 years commencing on the first day of July, 1966, and on the first day of July every three years thereafter. However, each commissioner shall continue in office until the board of supervisors appoints a successor. Vacancies occurring in the commissions shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as the original appointment. This body is subject to the Board of Supervisors 12 year appointment limit.
Meetings Second Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
Qualifications Commission members shall be residents of the County. Members must be representatives from associations or organizations of veteran soldiers, sailor or marines who have served the United States honorably in any of its wars and who are organized for patriotic, fraternal and benevolent objects. Nominations are made by the Commission. Nominations shall then be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors by the incumbent commission, as submitted by the nominating organizations, except in cases wherein more than one nomination is received for a single seat on the commission. In these cases, the commission shall, by majority vote, select one nomination to be forwarded to the board of supervisors. In no case shall the commission submit more than one nomination for each seat to the board of supervisors. The commission shall be appointed by the board of supervisors, based upon these nominations.
Appointments The Commission is comprised of one representative from each of the following veterans groups: Submarine Veterans' Association; American Legion Post 68; American Legion Post 870; AMVETs Post 911. The Building Superintendent shall be an Ex-Officio member of the commission. The Board of Supervisors may, by resolution, designate some other county employee to act in the place and stead of the building superintendent as a member of the commissions.
