THE POSITION(S)

Cerebral Palsy Therapists provide occupational therapy services in a school setting for the treatment of cerebralpalsied and similarily disabled children. They also advise parents on home treatment and care related tooccupational therapy. The Cerebral Palsy Program involves the long-term treatment of children under 21 years ofage and therefore requires the therapist to continually adopt and change the therapeutic regimen to thematurational development of the patient as well as his/her progress. Therapist in the Cerebral Palsy Program workunder the supervision of a supervising therapist.

Supervising Therapist - $2303.20 - Current Bi-Weekly Maximum.

THE REQUIREMENTS

These are entrance requirements for admission to the examination, which is competitive. Possession of the entrancerequirements does not assure a place on the eligible list. A candidate's performance in the examination will bejudged in comparison with the performance of other candidates.

EDUCATION: Completion of a recognized course in Occupational Therapy.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Eligibility for or possession of Registration with the National Registry of Qualified OccupationalTherapists.

THE EXAMINATION

THIS IS A REOPENING OF AN EXISTING EXAMINATION. The names of qualified candidates in this examination will bemerged onto the existing list according to examination score. This list may be cancelled at any time, without noticeto candidates.

The examination may include but may not be limited to: KNOWLEDGE OF principles, methods, equipment and thebasic theory of mental and physical rehabilitation involved in the modern practice of occupational therapyespecially as applied to cerebral palsied children; anatomy and physiology of the skeletal, muscular, neural, andother structures, and the pathologies and injuries which result in physical or mental disabilities; equipment andmethods used to evaluate and mitigate such handicaps; arts and crafts, recreational activites; physical training,therapeutic devices and other means which are used to effect rehabilitation through a program of occupationaltherapy. ABILITY TO instruct andgain the confidence and cooperation of patients in the program instilling appropriate attitudes and effecting mentaladjustment as well as physical rehabilitation; devise, improve and develop equipment and techniques as required.

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF A review of candidates' applications and supplemental questionnaires toverify possession of minimum qualifications. Those candidates who possess the minimum qualifications for the classwill be placed on the eligible list based on an evaluation of education, training, and experience.
