A message from:
Board of Supervisors
Susan S. Muranishi, County Administrator

March 19, 2020

We want to thank you again and extend our appreciation for your contributions to ensure the health and safety of Alameda County residents, and your fellow employees during the COVID-19 outbreak. We greatly value your dedication to our communities and your commitment to continue providing essential services to our County residents.

On March 17, 2020, the Board of Supervisors took an unprecedented action to help address the impact of employee absences related to COVID-19. The directive from the Board is that employees are to remain in paid status, notwithstanding the impacts of the Health Officer's "Shelter In Place" Order and school closures. Those employees who cannot work due to health, school closures, severe family concerns, or those who will shelter in place for other reasons, will remain in paid status from March 17, 2020 through April 7, 2020.

In order to promote equity between employees who will be paid but not working while sheltering in place, those who are working, during the period between March 17, 2020 through April 7, 2020 will be awarded an administrative leave hour for each hour worked, up to a maximum of 128 hours, or a prorated maximum for employees who work less than a 40-hour regular work week.

The Board of Supervisors and County executive leadership team extend our deepest gratitude to our employees, our greatest resource.
