Transportation Projects

East Avenue Roadway Reconstruction

This project extends from the E Street Intersection with East Avenue east to Windfeldt Road Intersection with East Avenue. The work consists of pedestrian ramps and roadway reconstruction.

Schedule: Work complete.

Work Update: Contractor finalizing miscellaneous clean up items.

Somerset Avenue Sidewalk Improvements at Stanton Elementary

This project consists of installing new curb, gutter and sidewalk and high visible crosswalks on Somerset Avenue from  the intersection of Stanton Avenue extending to Zeno Street.

Schedule: The project began in August 2008 and will extend until October 2008.

Work Update: Contractor is excavating areas to receive new sidewalks along the north and south side of Somerset.

You can expect delays traveling on Somerset Avenue in the vicinity of the construction zone. Detours will be posted when necessary.

Norris Canyon Slide Repair

This project is located on Norris Canyon Road at mile marker 0.3. The work consists of repairs to the hillside slope along the west side of the roadway.

Schedule: The project began the week of August 4th and is expected to extend to October 2008. Property Owners will be notified by the contractor when work is to begin in their area.

Work Update: Piles are in place and the contractor is beginning to install the retaining walls.

You can expect traffic delays traveling on Norris Canyon Road due to temporary roadway and lane closures when required.

Flood Projects

Crossing Improvements of Line F-1 Channel at Sycamore Avenue in the City of Newark

The project consists of installation of an additional box culvert adjacent to the existing box culvert.

Schedule: The project began in August 2008 and will extend until October 2008. Property Owners will be notified by the contractor when work is to begin in their area

Work Update: The contractor is working on the west side of Sycamore Avenue and this work is anticipated to extend until mid September at which time they will begin work on the middle and east side of the crossing.

You can expect traffic delays on Sycamore Avenue due to temporary roadway and lane closures when required.

Crossing Improvements of Line F-1 Channel at Cherry in the City of Newark

The project consists of installation of an additional box culvert adjacent to the existing box culvert.

Schedule: The project began in August 2008 and will extend until October 2008. Property Owners will be notified by the contractor when work is to begin in their area

Work Update: The contractor is working on the west side of Cherry Avenue and this work is anticipated to extend until mid September at which time they will begin work on the middle and east side of the crossing.
