Term (Seats) |
The County and the at-large members shall serve terms of two years, commencing on the date of appointment and until a successor is appointed and qualified. BOS Appointed members terms are subject to the BOS 12 year appointment rule.
Cities appointees serve at pleasure of appointing Councils. |
Meetings |
1st Wednesday of January, April, July, and October meetings rotate among branches. |
Qualifications |
4 members appointed by the Board of Supervisor must be a resident and elector of San Lorenzo-Ashland-Cherryland, a resident and elector of Castro Valley, a resident and elector of Eden Township, and a resident and elector of Dublin or the unincorporated areas of Pleasanton or Murray Township.
5 members appointed by their respective Cities must be a council member from the Councils of the Cities of Albany, Dublin, Fremont, Newark, or Union City; and
6 members must be residents, and electors of the area served by the library to serve at large and selected (1) one by the city members, (2) three by the board of supervisors, and (3) two by the full commission. |
Appointments |
The Board of Supervisors shall appoint four members; one a resident and elector of San Lorenzo-Ashland-Cherryland, one a resident and elector of Castro Valley, one a resident and elector of Eden Township, and one a resident and elector of Dublin or the unincorporated areas of Pleasanton or Murray Township.
There may be six additional members, residents, and electors of the area served by the library to serve at large and selected (1) one by the city members, (2) three by the Board of Supervisors, and (3) two by the full commission.
The city councils of the cities of Albany, Dublin, Fremont, Newark, and Union City shall each appoint one council member from their respective councils to serve as city members of the commission, and at the pleasure of the respective appointing authorities, and each council may appoint one alternate member to serve on the commission. The alternate member shall serve in the event the regular member is absent or disqualifies herself or himself. |
