Green Building Ordinance-County Buildings
Buildings consume 40% of the world's energy; construction debris is 21% of material in local landfills. Recognizing the benefits to citizens of incorporating green building practices into the design and construction of County facilities, the Board of Supervisors adopted a Green Building Ordinance for County facilities that requires that all County municipal projects be built to a minimum U.S. Green Building Council LEED® Silver standard. The ordinance also requires recycling of construction and demolition debris.
