For the past 22 years, Carolyn Russell has served as Executive Director of A Safe Place, an Alameda County-based agency that provides shelter, crisis counseling and other services to female victims of domestic violence and their children. Through her leadership, A Safe Place has built collaborative relationships in the community that have helped the agency expand services in the face of cutbacks in public funding.
