Wei-Ling Huber was inducted into the Business & Professions category in 2011.
A lifelong activist for justice, Wei-Ling Huber has been a catalyst for improving and expanding economic opportunities for Alameda County workers since 1995 through her work with UNITE HERE 2850, the East Bay hospitality workers union. The President of UNITE HERE since 2006, Wei-Ling leads a union that represents 2,300 East Bay workers, including hotel housekeepers, banquet and cafeteria workers, cooks, dishwashers and concession workers. Generally, these workers receive low wages and no healthcare, but under Wei-Ling's leadership union members have seen substantial gains in working conditions and compensation and the union's membership has grown by more than 20 percent.
