Akemi Williams was inducted into the Youth Category in 2019.
Akemi, a senior at Dublin High School, is a seasoned volunteer who has given time to community projects throughout Alameda County, and in Haiti and Ghana. Since age 6 she has been involved in programs at the East Oakland Youth Development Center, where she now volunteers as a cooking instructor who encourages youth to create and sample healthy meals. As a student at Dublin High School, she worked to make the most of a bad situation when some fellow students made racially offensive gestures. She responded by helping to organize a special project called DubVersity, a Spirit Week-style assembly mentoring youth on diversity and inclusion.
