Candi Thornton-McCreary was inducted into the Community Service Category in 2020.
Candi Thornton-McCreary is an integral advocate for her community. Ms. McCreary created a year-round food distribution center in East Oakland, which provides 100 families with fresh food on a weekly basis. In 1999, she established Arsola, a long-term housing program, supporting veterans, previously incarcerated individuals, and individuals recovering from addiction. She also provides emergency housing for women experiencing domestic violence seeking refuge in a safe space.
