My Story

Susan is the Associate Laboratory Director for Earth and Environmental Sciences at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She is an internationally recognized earth and environmental scientist who is dedicated to tackling some of the world’s most critical challenges, including the future of Western U.S. water resources and carbon cycling in the Arctic. She has helped to create a new discipline of study that uses statistical approaches to fuse diverse hydrogeological, biological and geophysical datasets to quantify how such environmental systems behave. Susan is committed to training the next generation of scientists and is especially inspired to mentor younger women in STEM fields.
