Supply Chain Sustainability Report
The County recognizes its key role in providing government services to the community in a manner that enhances the health and wellbeing of its citizens. That is why we're looking beyond our own operations to see how we can leverage our purchasing power to drive sustainability in how products are made and services are delivered.
The opportunities here are significant. Our analysis of 2019 expenditures shows the climate impact of government purchasing is four times larger than that of our government operations for the same year.
This study will help us focus our limited resource where they can make the greatest difference. It can also serve as a guidepost to other County government agencies that have similar spend profiles, and thus similar opportunities to take action through the power of their procurement activities.
